FAQ
How can we help?
Answers about verification, couples, messages, safety, and your account. If you can’t find what you need, email us.
Popular questions
How long does verification take?
Usually under an hour, and up to 24 hours. You can close the app while you wait, and we’ll send you a notification when you’re approved.
How do couple profiles work?
A couple shares one public profile, and that’s how other members see you on Discover and in chats.
Inside it you’re still two people. Each partner has their own sign-in, name, details, and profile photo, and every message shows which of you sent it.
How do I add my partner?
Sign up first and choose We’re a Couple. Then open the Profile tab, tap Invite your partner, and send your partner the 8-character code.
Your partner downloads Primal Play, taps My partner is already here during sign-up, and enters the code. Codes expire after 72 hours and can only be used once. If yours expires, open Invite your partner again for a new one.
Can more than two people share a profile, or chat as a group?
No. A profile is one person or a couple, and every conversation is between two profiles. There are no group profiles or group chats. Group Play on someone’s profile is an interest they’ve listed, not a type of account.
Why are single men waitlisted?
We open access for single men gradually to keep the community balanced. Every single man joins the waitlist when he signs up, and our team reviews each profile before approving access.
Do we have to match before we can message?
No. There’s no matching on Primal Play. Open any profile and tap Send Message. The only exception is single men without a linked partner, who can reply but can’t send the first message.
How do I block someone?
Open the menu on their profile, one of their posts or comments, or your conversation with them, and choose Block.
A block covers both profiles as a whole. Blocking a couple blocks both partners, and if your partner blocks someone, they’re blocked for you too.
How do I report someone?
Open the menu on their profile, post, or comment, choose Report, and pick a reason. To report a message, press and hold it, then tap Report.
Our team reviews every report within 24 hours. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
Why was my photo rejected?
A photo is rejected when the automatic check finds nudity or sexual content. Uploads also fail when the file is over 5 MB or in a format we can’t read, and a different photo usually works.
If you’re told the photo couldn’t be checked right now, that isn’t a rejection. Try again in a moment.
How do I delete my account?
Open the Profile tab, tap Delete account at the bottom of the list, and confirm. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and a deleted account can’t be restored. If you can’t sign in, email primalplayapp@gmail.com from the address on your account instead.
Your uploaded photo files stay in our storage unless you ask us to erase them, so email us before you delete if you want them gone. Delete Your Account explains exactly what’s removed and what we keep.

Getting started
What is Primal Play?
Primal Play is a private social app for verified adults and couples in the lifestyle community. Members browse profiles nearby, message each other, share posts on the Feed, and choose who gets to see their private photos.
Who can join?
Anyone 18 or older. You join as a couple, a single woman, or a single man, and you confirm you’re 18 or older when you sign up.
Every member verifies with a selfie before they can use the app. Single men also join a waitlist first. Here’s why.
How do I sign up or sign in?
To create an account, open Primal Play, tap Get Started, and sign up with your email and a password, or with Apple on iPhone and iPad. There’s no phone number or Google sign-in.
To sign back in with your email and password, tap Sign in on the welcome screen. If you use Apple, tap Get Started instead, then Already a member? Sign in at the bottom of the next screen, and choose Sign in with Apple.
Each person has their own sign-in, including both partners in a couple.
Can I change my profile type later?
Not yet, but it’s coming soon. For now, your profile type is set when you sign up and can’t be changed in the app.
The one exception today is linking a partner: when a second person joins a single profile, it becomes a couple profile automatically.
Verification
Why do I have to verify?
Verification keeps bots and fake profiles out. Every member verifies before they can browse, message, or post, so everyone you meet on Primal Play has been checked by our team.
How does verification work?
You take a hand-over-heart selfie with your camera in the app. Photos from your library can’t be used. Good lighting helps, and leave off filters and sunglasses.
The selfie is private. Only our review team sees it, and it’s never shown on your profile. We don’t ask for ID.
How long does verification take?
Usually under an hour, and up to 24 hours. You can close the app while you wait, and we’ll send you a notification when you’re approved.
What if my verification isn’t approved?
You’ll get a notification, and the verification screen shows what to fix when our reviewer left a note. Take a new selfie following the steps and submit it again.
Do I need to verify again on a new phone?
No. Verification belongs to your account, not your phone. Sign in on your new device and you’re still verified.
Couples
My partner already has an account. Can we link them?
Yes. One of you gets an invite code from the Profile tab. The other opens their Profile tab, taps Link with partner, and enters the code.
Whoever enters the code joins the other person’s shared profile and brings their chats, favorites, and verification along.
Do both of us need to verify?
Yes. Each partner verifies with their own selfie. Your shared profile is marked verified and shows up in Discover once you’re both approved.
If your partner joins after your profile is already live, it’s hidden from Discover until they’re verified too.
Can both of us edit our profile?
Yes. Either partner can edit the shared profile, including its photos, couple bio, and prompts. Each of you chooses your own profile photo from your shared public photos.
How do we unlink our profiles if we split up?
There’s no unlink option in the app. Email primalplayapp@gmail.com from the address on your account and we’ll unlink you.
The partner who stays keeps the shared profile and its conversations. The other partner keeps their sign-in but loses access to the shared profile and its messages, and sets up a new profile, including verification, the next time they sign in. Posts and comments they made on the old profile are removed.
Either of you can also delete your own account, and the partner who stays keeps the shared profile. See What happens to my partner if I delete my account?
Can more than two people share a profile, or chat as a group?
No. A profile is one person or a couple, and every conversation is between two profiles. There are no group profiles or group chats. Group Play on someone’s profile is an interest they’ve listed, not a type of account.
Single men
Why are single men waitlisted?
We open access for single men gradually to keep the community balanced. Every single man joins the waitlist when he signs up, and our team reviews each profile before approving access.
How do I get off the waitlist?
Verify your account first. Once you’re verified, our team reviews your profile, and we’ll notify you when your access is approved.
You can also skip the waitlist by joining as a couple. See Can I skip the waitlist?
Can I use the app while I’m on the waitlist?
Not yet. Discover, the Feed, and Messages open once your access is approved. While you wait, you can still link with a partner.
Can I skip the waitlist?
Yes, by linking with a partner. Your partner signs up as a couple, gets verified, and sends you an invite code from their Profile tab. Tap Link with partner on your waitlist screen and enter it.
Your shared profile goes live, with no waitlist, as soon as you’re both verified.
What does “Access is paused” mean?
It means we’re not opening solo access for your profile right now. Taking a new selfie won’t change the decision.
You can still link with a partner and continue as a couple, or email primalplayapp@gmail.com if you think it’s a mistake.
Why can’t I send the first message?
Single men without a linked partner can’t start new conversations, and that stays true after you’re approved from the waitlist. You can always reply when someone messages you first, and replies are never limited.
Linking with a partner removes the limit, because couples can message anyone.
Messages
Do we have to match before we can message?
No. There’s no matching on Primal Play. Open any profile and tap Send Message. The only exception is single men without a linked partner, who can reply but can’t send the first message.
Who can message me?
Any approved member, except people you’ve blocked or who have blocked you. Single men without a linked partner can only reply once you’ve messaged them.
If you don’t want to hear from someone, block them.
Can I send photos in messages?
No. Messages are text only. To share more photos with someone, add them to your private album and approve their request to see it. See How does the private album work?
How do I delete a message I sent?
Press and hold the message, then tap Delete message. You’ll both see that a message was deleted. A copy is kept privately for safety reviews, in case the conversation is reported.
You can only delete messages you sent yourself, not ones your partner sent.
Can I delete a whole conversation?
No. Conversations can’t be deleted or hidden. You can delete individual messages you sent, and you can block anyone you don’t want to hear from again.
Can people see when I’ve read their message?
No. Primal Play doesn’t show read receipts or typing indicators.
Why didn’t my message send?
Every message is checked automatically before it’s delivered. Adult conversation between members is fine, but slurs, threats, and other seriously harmful messages are stopped, and you’ll be asked to change the message.
A message also won’t send if either of you has blocked the other, or if you’re a single man sending the first message without a linked partner.
How do I turn message notifications on or off?
Open the Profile tab, tap Notifications, and switch Messages on or off. Notifications never include what the message says. There’s no way to mute a single conversation.
Discover and the Feed
How does Discover work?
Discover shows verified members near you, closest first. Tap a profile to see more, save it with Favorite, or send a message.
Use the filters to choose how far to look, from 15 to 100 miles, and whether to see women, men, couples, or a mix. If nobody is in range, Discover shows the closest people beyond it.
Can I browse another city?
Yes. In the Discover filters, search for a city under Passport to browse profiles there. Your own profile location doesn’t change, and you can reset to where you are at any time.
What does Favorite do?
Favorite saves a profile so you can find it again under Favorites on the Activity tab. The profile you favorite can see that you did, and may get a notification.
Can people see that I viewed their profile?
Yes. Opening someone’s profile shows up in their Activity tab, and they may get a notification. There’s no anonymous browsing.
What is the Feed, and who sees my posts?
The Feed is where members share posts with the whole community. A post can include text and a photo, and members can like it and comment on it.
Everyone on Primal Play can see your posts, except people you’ve blocked or who have blocked you. Only you can see who liked your post.
How do I delete a post or comment?
Tap the ••• menu on your post and choose Delete post, or on your comment and choose Delete comment. Deleting a post permanently removes it and its photo, and deleting a comment also removes the replies to it.
Posts and comments can’t be edited, only deleted.
Blocking and reporting
How do I block someone?
Open the menu on their profile, one of their posts or comments, or your conversation with them, and choose Block.
A block covers both profiles as a whole. Blocking a couple blocks both partners, and if your partner blocks someone, they’re blocked for you too.
What happens when I block someone?
- Neither of you can message the other, including in conversations you already have. Messages sent before the block stay visible.
- You can’t see each other’s profiles, and you disappear from each other’s Discover.
- You won’t see each other’s posts in the Feed. Their comments on other people’s posts can still appear, but without their name or profile.
- They can’t request access to your private album.
They aren’t told that you blocked them.
How do I unblock someone?
Open the Profile tab, tap Privacy, then Blocked profiles, and tap Unblock next to their name. You’ll be able to see and message each other again.
How do I report someone?
Open the menu on their profile, post, or comment, choose Report, and pick a reason. To report a message, press and hold it, then tap Report.
Our team reviews every report within 24 hours. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
What happens after I report something?
Our team reviews it within 24 hours and can remove content, restrict an account, or remove someone from Primal Play.
A copy of what you reported is saved with your report, so it still counts if the person deletes it afterwards. Posts and comments you report disappear from your own Feed straight away, and the person you reported isn’t notified.
My account was removed. Can I appeal?
If you believe it was a mistake, email primalplayapp@gmail.com from the address on your account. From the removal screen you can also sign out or delete your account.
Photos and moderation
Do I need a profile photo?
Yes. Every member needs at least one photo so people can see who they’re connecting with. Profiles without a public photo don’t appear in Discover.
What kinds of photos are allowed?
Photos can’t contain nudity or sexually explicit content. That rule covers every photo on Primal Play, including your private album and the Feed.
Every photo is checked automatically when you upload it, and photos that break the rules are rejected. Your public and private albums hold up to 8 photos each, and each photo can be up to 5 MB.
Why is my new profile photo in review?
When you choose a new profile photo, our team checks it before it goes live. Your current profile photo stays in place until then, and the new one waits in your album either way.
Other photos you add to your public or private album go live as soon as they pass the automatic check.
How does the private album work?
Your private album holds up to 8 photos that stay hidden until you approve someone. Other members can see how many private photos you have and request access.
You’ll get a notification when someone asks, and you can approve or deny the request on the Activity tab. Approval covers the whole profile, so approving a couple lets both partners see your album.
Can I take back access to my private album?
Yes. Open the Profile tab, tap Private album access, and revoke access for anyone you’ve approved. It takes effect straight away and they aren’t notified, but they can request access again later.
How is content moderated?
Posts, comments, messages, profile text, and photos are all checked automatically. Profile photos, verification selfies, and reports are also reviewed by our team.
Adult conversation in private messages is allowed. Public posts and every photo must stay non-explicit, and hate, threats, harassment, and anything involving minors are never allowed. Our Terms of Service and Child Safety Standards have the full rules.
Privacy
Who can see my profile?
Only members signed in to the Primal Play app, apart from anyone you’ve blocked or who has blocked you. Profiles aren’t shown on this website.
Can I hide my profile from Discover?
Yes. Open the Profile tab, tap Privacy, and turn off Show me in Discover. People won’t find you in Discover, including when they browse your area with Passport, but anyone who already has you in their messages or favorites can still open your profile.
In a couple, your shared profile stays in Discover until both partners turn this off.
What do other members see about my location?
Your approximate distance, like 12 mi. Under Privacy on the Profile tab, you can show your city and state instead, or turn off Show distance on my profile.
In a couple, if either partner turns distance off, it’s hidden for both of you.
Does Primal Play track my location?
No. Your location is only used to show people near you and your distance from them. It updates when you use Discover, never in the background.
Discover needs location access to find people near you.
Can other members take screenshots?
Yes. Primal Play doesn’t block or detect screenshots, so only share photos and messages you’re comfortable with someone keeping. If someone shares your content without your consent, report them.
Your account
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter the email you signed up with. We’ll email you a link to set a new one. If the link has expired, request another.
If you signed up with Apple, you don’t have a password. Tap Get Started on the welcome screen, then Already a member? Sign in, and choose Sign in with Apple.
How do I change my email or password?
Open the Profile tab and tap Account. When you change your email, we send confirmation links to both your old and new addresses, and the change finishes once you’ve opened both. New passwords need at least 8 characters.
How do I manage notifications?
Open the Profile tab and tap Notifications. You can switch push notifications on or off for messages, favorites, profile views, and tips and news, and opt out of marketing emails.
Emails about your account, such as sign-in and deletion, are always sent.
What happens to my partner if I delete my account?
Your partner keeps your shared profile, along with its favorites and profile views, and can invite a new partner later. Your own sign-in, profile details, and the messages you sent are deleted.
Your own photos come off the shared profile’s public and private albums automatically. Photos of the two of you together stay.
Does deleting the app delete my account?
No. Removing the app from your phone doesn’t delete your account or your profile. To delete your account, see How do I delete my account?
How do I contact Primal Play?
Email primalplayapp@gmail.com. For anything about your account, write from the address on the account. You can also reach us from Help on the Profile tab.
Still need help?
Email primalplayapp@gmail.com from the address on your account. To report a member or something you saw, use Report in the app, which sends our team a copy of what you reported.
